HOORAY, YOU MADE IT!
It may have been a little bit crazy, but here you are.
If you have 30 ideas, you can qualify for one of our AMAZING Storysttorm prizes (the daily giveaways and the Grand Prizes) just by taking the following pledge. Put your right hand on a picture book and repeat after me:
I do solemnly swear that I have faithfully executed
the Storystorm 30-ideas-in-30-days challenge,
and will, to the best of my ability,
parlay my ideas into picture book manuscripts.
Now I’m not saying all 30 ideas have to be good. Some may just be titles, some may be character quirks. Some may be problems and some may create problems when you sit down to write. Some may be high-concept and some barely a concept. But…they’re yours, all yours! Give them a big, fat, juicy smacker! SMOOCH!
You have until February 4th at 11:59:59PM EST to sign the pledge by leaving a comment on this post. PLEASE COMMENT ONLY ONCE.
The name or email you left on the registration post and the name or email you leave on this winner’s pledge SHOULD MATCH. If you want to check the registration post, it is here.
Again, please COMMENT ONLY ONCE. If you made a mistake, contact me instead of leaving a second comment.
Remember, this is an honor system pledge. You don’t have to send in your ideas to prove you’ve got 30 of them. If you say so, I’ll believe you! Honestly, it’s that simple. (Wouldn’t it be nice if real life were that straightforward.)
If your name appears on both the registration post AND this winner’s pledge, you’ll be entered into the drawings for the daily giveaways and the Grand Prizes: feedback on your best 5 ideas from a literary agent.
So what should you do now? Start fleshing out your best ideas! Write them as elevator pitches. Get ready because YOU might be a CHOSEN ONE.
The daily giveaway prizes include picture books, manuscript critiques, art prints—all the stuff you saw during the month. All winners will be randomly selected by Random.org and announced next week.
So, sign away and pick up your winner’s badge to proudly display anywhere you choose:
CONGRATULATIONS! YOU’VE EARNED IT, STORYSTORMER!

I did it! 31 ideas! I even wrote 5 stories based on my ideas and some of them went to my publisher to see what he thinks. I’ve got a series planned, I wrote prose and poems. Sometimes I think that January was a wash-out, then I stop and I see how much I actually did. By slowing down a bit in the morning and observing my surroundings more, I was able to come up with an idea and run it through my head all day. When I got back from work, I had an entire paragraph/ story to write down. I think that this is a habit I will continue. Many thanks to Tara for this lovely opportunity to be part of something amazing. And to everyone who took time out of their busy lives to post each day, thank-you. I’m already looking forward to next year! xxx ❤

This is my first year of Storystorm and I have found it incredibly liberating. I have actually managed to jot down 100 ideas … madness. Even if I get just one really good one out of that lot, I’ll be happy as more importantly is that the month has helped me to get into the habit of capturing ideas as and when they strike. Now it’s time to flesh some of them out to see if they’ve got a future! Thanks Tara.

Tara, I have used two emails every year. The posts come to my school email kkeppol@siuslaw.k12.or.us. Since I try to get students to play too. But I use my personal email to comment: kkeppol@gmail.com. In case I were to actually win something (Which I did last year.)I don’t want that correspondence at work. Is my personal email still connected?-Kassy

This was my best Storystorm idea-generating year yet. I have 47! I’m shocked.. The last couple years have dealt me some challenging & heartbreaking issues but I keep writing and illustrating thru thick and thin. A big thank you to Tara and all the great contributors for helping us keep the creative fires stoked. Because no matter what life throws at us, we should make up characters, and give them a place to live and a story to share!

Thank you. I don’t have 30 ideas. Honesty is the best policy. But I have some glorious story ideas. I’ve started a picture book and bending to pick up my slippers I thought …What if my slippers didn’t want to snuggle with my tootsies anymore…pleading is involved. But whether this is a shoe in I don’t know. But I’ve had more fun doing this. Thanks Tara and hugs.

At the outset, I thought this was going to be a difficult task. In the end I was surprised to discover that, not only did I have an idea for every day of the month, but also it wasn’t really hard to do! In fact, I am now in the habit of spending a little time, not necessarily every day but certainly every week, to get story ideas down on paper. It was fun, and now i’m hooked! Thanks for hosting this game, Tara.

Hello, Tara!
Thank you so much for making this month of ideas possible. I’m delighted to have finished the challenge with well over 30 ideas. I put my hand on a copy of Tasha Tudor’s A is for Annabelle and recited the pledge out loud. That was wonderful.
I’m afraid I’m confused about my pledge comment and matching my registration name. When I registered, I accidentally did so twice: once with my name (Jennie MacDonald) and once with my WordPress identity (jennie macdonald). My email address is the same, j_macdonald@mac.com
I appreciate your letting me know what to do about signing the pledge correctly.
Many thanks!

I brainstormed well over 30 ideas, and I’m on to the writing and revision stage for two of my best ideas. Thank you so much for creating a space and framework for such an inspiring and motivating kick off to the new creative year! (NOTE: I did register on 1/2/2018 at 12:56 PM (with a login that connected to FB), and then replied to that comment at 1/2/2018 at 1:04 PM (with a login that connected to my blog—which is the login I’ve commented with throughout the challenge). It’s the same name throughout, so hopefully that doesn’t create confusion. Again, thank you so much! : )

Alas. I got sick shortly after it began and I feel far behind. It even made my hands hurt. I only managed to come up with one idea, and that was yesterday. ;_;
So I bombed out of this years challenge, but I’m still happy I signed up for it. I can always go through the posts and come up with more ideas throughout the year. Thanks for hosting it, Tara!

Gretchen McLellan I did it, but I cannot find my name on the sign in and I’m totally perplexed by that because I did register in time. Each day’s post was delivered into my email box. I posted comments often too. So where is my name? Anyway, I’m a winner even if I don’t win a prize, because I loved the daily brainstorming and one of my ideas is already on four editors’ desks.
