I just got back from a FABULOUS 1st grade school visit! I was so excited about it that I immediately had to vlog.
While this isn’t my first vlog (that was for EMU’s Debuts), it is the debut vlog for this blog.
If you want to start doing school visits as a pre-published author, I explain the way to go about it. I think. *Warning: DO NOT APPEAR AS CRAZY AS I DO IN THIS VIDEO.*
Apologies for the ethereal lighting. I was sitting in my breakfast nook with the blinds opened. But I rather prefer the Cybill Shepherd “Moonlighting” look, don’t you, dahlings? (What, you don’t know what that means? Oh, you young whipper-snapper, go Google it.)
More apologies for the mirror writing. If I knew how to flip a video, I would. Anyone know? Help?!
And hey, wanna know more about my school visits? I’m going old-school with a CLICK HERE. (Really. Click there.)
And please remember to leave me a comment about what we should name “vlogs” instead of “vvlawwwgz”. It’s an ugly word for an exciting medium.

LOVED this! First thought? “Wow, Tara’s voice is TOTALLY different than I thought.” And then my second thought was interrupted by my son walking in, asking who you were, and me saying, “Her name is Ms. Lazar, and she-”
Then him interruptig me again saying, “Wow. She’s kinda crazypants.” HA!
Okay, so I hate “Vlog”, too. Unfortunately, I am now too busy to help with changing the name because I am now laughing too hard at my ridiculous son and his adaptation of the word “Crazypants”.
Once again, you inspire even the smallest minds!

How about blogcast instead of vlog? Also, if you’re using Photo Booth on a Mac, there’s a setting under the menu item “Edit” to “Auto Flip New Items” that should fix the backwards text.
I’m visiting my son’s daycare next week to sing a song and read one of my WIPs. Can’t wait!

A la Felicia Day (queen of geek) who calls hers a “flog” for Felicia log, you could name it for yourself. Lazog? Lazideo? TaLaZideo?

Fun video! (and I’m still laughing at the “kinda crazypants” line 😀 )
What about vid-log?

why not Vee-logs. Sounds like “vee-la”, those gorgeous magical women who visited Hogwarts for the wizarding challenge.

OMG I am dying over here at “kinda crazypants”. Yep, I’m the Katy Perry of Picture Books. (I JUST thought of that and I’m running with it.)

It is so sweet to finally really “meet” you and hear you talk! I don’t think you’re crazy. I think you’re adorable! V-blog is a perfect name for what you did or see-blog could work too.

lol. I’m old enough to remember the Moonlighting filter, but I think Cybil stole it from Doris Day! Vee-log is good. How about a Tara Talkie?

I vote for V-log. Cute presentation, and I like your idea to create a pitch for school visits. Love your funny faces!

(First of all, loved the crazypants v-thing that you posted – so nice to see you’re as much fun to follow in person as you are in print!) Suggestion: what about “Vida”? It means life… it’s a glimpse into your life… it’s “Live” (when you film it it’s live)… and you could amend to “Vida Loca” with no loss of veracity! My sister suggests “Vida Bite.” She claims adding the word “bite” gives it a “Computer-y feeling!”
Real-Time Other Idea – what about calling it a “Tara Bite”? (I know you pronounce it differently – that’s what makes it marketable.) Kinda catchy?

Ha ha, Tara Bite, that’s good!

loved your last v-log so much I just couldn’t hit the little triangle play thingy fast enough! How about “moving picture blog” – so retro, it’s cool. Great post & encouragement.

You could call it what it stands for: video blog post, or video blog, or video log? V-log sounds like it should stand for video log. Blog is acceptable though, right? weB-LOG. Blog. Web log online diary. Oh, I got it! How about a V-BLOG? It’s a VIDEO blog entry. Okay, that’s my 2 cents. Your v-blog was way more entertaining than my comment.

Oh, I gotta start thinking about this for my upcoming picture book!
As a fellow New Jerseyite, may I be your roadie on your next school visit? I need inspiration!
