Lately many writers have wondered, “Are you hosting Picture Book Idea Month again in November?”
Since this is a children’s lit blog, I have to tone down the language of my reply:
HECK, YEAH!
We’re gonna make NaNoWriMo novelists wish they were PiBoIdMo writers this year!
We’ve lined up great guest bloggers.
And three picture book agents to provide feedback to three winners.
And prizes! Oh, the prizes!
Just remember, you’ll have to complete 30 ideas in 30 days to qualify for the prizes. And you’ll have to officially sign up, too.
Watch for the kick-off post and sign-in on Halloween! You’ll have from then through the first week in November to sign-up.
And for now, I’m signing out!

I think I’ll be happy just to get through the latest revisions of my novel by the end of November! This could be a lot of fun, though. I’ve done NaNoWriMo twice, so maybe it is time for a change!

Someday I’m going to participate in this! I love following along on folks’ progress, though, so at least I can enjoy that. November will be PiBoFiMo = Picture Book FINISHING Month! I have to finish illustrating a book or I’ll miss my deadline.

sorry to be a newbie dweeb about this but is there info on how the piboidmo works? i think i’d like to take the plunge and am curious to both what the definition of an idea is and how the contest itself works. i’d be fine with a public shellacking if necessary.

All you’ll need to do is sign up the first week in November (the kick-off post and sign-in is coming on Halloween) and then take the pledge at the end of the month stating that you have created 30 new ideas in 30 days to qualify for the prize drawing.
Visit this blog daily in November for inspiring posts from authors, illustrators and other kidlit folk to help you along your way.
No one will see your ideas except for you. You are not required to share them–unless you win one of the three agent prizes! Then you get to show an agent five of your best ideas and they’ll provide feedback on which ideas might be the best ones to pursue.
