BUZZZZZZZZZZ!!!!!
OK folks, time’s up!
November and the 5th annual PiBoIdMo have officially come to a close.
Well, do ya, PiBoIdMo’er?
Do you have 30 ideas?
If you do, you can qualify for one of our AMAZING PiBoIdMo prizes just by taking the following pledge. Put your right hand on a picture book and repeat after me:
I do solemnly swear that I have faithfully executed
the PiBoIdMo 30-ideas-in-30-days challenge,
and will, to the best of my ability,
parlay my ideas into picture book manuscripts.
Now I’m not saying all 30 ideas have to be good. Some may just be titles, some may be character quirks. Some may be problems and some may create problems when you sit down to write. Some may be high-concept and some barely a concept. But…they’re yours, all yours! Give them a big, fat, juicy smacker! SMOOCH!
.
You have until December 3rd at 11:59:59PM EST to sign the pledge by leaving a comment WITH YOUR FULL NAME on this post. PLEASE COMMENT ONLY ONCE.
The name you left on the registration post and the name you leave on this winner’s pledge SHOULD MATCH.
Again, please COMMENT ONLY ONCE. If you made a mistake, contact me instead of leaving a second comment.
.
Remember, this is an honor system pledge. You don’t have to send in your ideas to prove you’ve got 30 of them. If you say so, I’ll believe you! Honestly, it’s that simple. (Wouldn’t it be nice if real life were that straightforward.)
If your name appears on both the registration post AND this winner’s pledge, you’ll be entered into the grand prize drawing: feedback on your best 5 ideas from a literary agent. There are NINE grand prizes! Check out all the agents here.
So what should you do now? Start fleshing out your best ideas! Write them as elevator pitches. Get ready because YOU might be a CHOSEN ONE.
Other prizes include picture books, manuscript critiques, art prints—all the stuff you saw during the month. All winners will be randomly selected by Random.org and announced NEXT WEEK.
And guess what, PiBoIdMo doesn’t end here! From tomorrow through December 6th, stop in for Post-PiBo, which offers daily posts about organizing and prioritizing your ideas.
Plus—you can claim your first prize now: a winner badge for your website, blog or social media site, designed by Joyce Wan. You can make it larger or smaller to fit anywhere. And if you want it on a mug, don’t forget to stop by the PiBoIdMo shop where every purchase benefits Reading is Fundamental (RIF).
Congratulate yourself on a job well done, PiBoIdMo’er. Take yourself out to brunch. Buy a new infinity scarf. Browse a bookstore. Pat your head and rub your tummy. Do what you want, you deserve it.
Go ahead, sign below and make my day! And your month!
And remember, stay tuned for Post-PiBo!

I am so pleased to have kept at it for all 30 days. Depending on how I count it, I have either 64 ideas, or 95 (the 95 is really because of a 32-part sub-list on an idea, though, so I’m not really counting it).
Thank you again for creating and hosting this event, Tara!

I am delighted to sign the pledge. Yesterday, although I’d already reached the goal of 30, ideas started spilling forth, and I’m ending PiBoIdMo with 40 ideas of various degrees of worth. I also had a side challenge for myself to come up with a few MG ideas, and got 10, which pleases me no end. So with my right hand on The Very Fairy Princess Sparkles in the Snow, I have taken the pledge. Now to make those ideas SPARKLE!!!!! Thank you, Tara, for all you do.

Thanks to some amazing strolls in London & surrounds these past several days, I managed 30 ideas! One started with the tiniest of a kernel – a sign post along the road; as I wandered through an information centre, I learned the reason for the sign & lo & behold the idea grows. Like PiBoIdMo! Ideas flowed much easier this year, thanks so much Tara! Understanding that EVERYONE struggles and has doubts was surprisingly comforting. I hoped that by taking part in PiBoIdMo I would at least dust off and take a closer look at some picture book ideas I already started on, but I was able to do that and more. I kept a sketch journal during the month and read the posts each day for inspiration. I didn’t get an idea every day, but other days the ideas kept coming and made up for it. I now have 37 ideas! …some are just a title and others I was able to really dig in and get something more…but now I’m in the habit of thinking of ideas and they keep coming. Thanks for this month Tara.

And I am challenging myself, for 2014, to be paying attention to what people say and do, with pen and notebook in hand. You just never know!

I squeaked it in including a trip to FL for family, hosting turkey day, getting the almost 7 month old to nap and you know all the rest of the stuff that goes on with a 2.5 year old (though she did actually give me a couple of ideas herself. hopefully that’s not cheating). Thanks, Tara! Another Pig Boat Identification Month completed. I successfully identified 33 pig boats this year. Technically, 4 were boar boats, but–oh wait… wrong group. Please disregard that last bit. There is definitely NOT a secret society of people identifying pig boats during the month of November. Besides, the first rule of Pig Boat Identification Month is you don’t talk about Pig Boat Identification Month. Oh man, I’m in serious trouble.

Thank you, Tara, for the inspiration, and for making me hold myself accountable to myself using PiBoIdMo as the pus I needed to get going. I lost my focus in the last week, distracted by the holiday, but I managed to get back to it and get my 32 ideas down. Now to actually try and make something of them!

This has been a hand-shaking, brain-baking, idea-making month of cooking up titles for “Pi” month. (I know the “Pi” is for “picture” but my mind insisted on pronouncing it “Pi” as in “Pie.” Will write for slices?)
Have a thirtysomething list of ideas to go. Who will write with me?
You are a gem,Tara. I hear today is “Giving Tuesday.” You give. You gave. You will give again. Because good people always come back for more. {}
Thank you for serving as Captain of this ship.

Hello. I speak at last to thank you, with a full heart and head, for your work and your original idea of conducting this month. I have 3 finished stories, 3 almost done and 3 on their way and a few questionable being both underbaked and overbaked as well as some raw and scattered in booklets — but at least 30 in all. I have read and written and written and read … An agent would be such a blessing. Whatever happens next, I thank you.
