Thanks to all the children who participated in Ammi-Joan Paquette’s THE TIPTOE GUIDE cover contest! We asked you to draw the cover of what you imagined could be the next book in the series, and we received some very creative entries. Since they were all so good, we randomly selected a winner. So…
Congratulations, Annika, age 9!
Annika wins a signed copy of THE TIPTOE GUIDE TO TRACKING MERMAIDS! And who knows, maybe sometime soon we’ll see a TIPTOE GUIDE TO TRACKING PEGASUSES! (PEGASI? PEGASU? Just what *is* the plural?!)
And here are the runners up…
Grace, age 9!
Katie, age 5! (With my personal favorite, MONSTERS!)
Lili, age 4! (Wow, nice lettering, Lili!)
And Molly, age 9, with a very colorful entry!
Thanks to all the kids who entered! It’s so much fun to see your creativity at work.
I promise to have more cover contests soon, including one for my upcoming book, THE MONSTORE!

Sorry! My daughter’s name is Molly and she is 9. She’s also home with a migraine today, so seeing her picture on the blog just made her day!

Yay! Congrats Annika!
Grace is certain that having her artwork published on a blog is the first steppingstone to having paparazzi chase her. Look out world!

Annika is jumping and squealing with excitement. Thank you so much, Tara!
She is actually 10 (I feel dishonest if I let you think she’s 9) but she’s young for her age as she has Asperger’s. For a child who feels like she’s bad at everything (e.g. She’s in yr 5 but reading at yr 1 level) it is a huge boost to win something.
I hope that isn’t too much info, but I want you to know how much it means to her (and me).
Thanks for posting up a few pictures, they’re great! I wonder if a few other authors are dreaming of having an author/illustrator partnership with their child in the future like I am.

Annika wants to put a message here: ‘Thank you for letting me win! I thought I might maybe be a runner-upper, but I did not expect to win first place. I really enjoyed running. Thanks for running the competition. Love Annika.’

Great job Annika and also to the other talented children who shared their beautiful art work! Tara: the plural for pegasus is pegasi! 🙂
