Don’t worry kids, there’s no remote learning today! It’s a true snow day to play.
Go to Snowdays.me and create a snowflake!
When posting your flurry flake, write “Storystorm” in the “What’s Your Message?” box. Then everyone can do a search to find and view the Storystorm snowflakes!
As you can see, I’ve been doing this for many years!
In the meantime…
…remember the feeling of anticipation, waiting for the phone to ring at 5:30AM on a winter morning? And when it did, you knew you could turn off your alarm and dive deeper into the blankets. School is closed! Sledding, snowmen and hot cocoa await!
Can you recapture that combination of euphoria and freedom in a story?

Yes, I still believe in snowdays. I was teacher for 32 years. It’s in my DNA!

Funny, this post comes on this day, the first day my area has had a snow day in about 10 years. We went outside this afternoon and made snow cats. And while outside, I got a new idea.

A perfect day to celebrate snow. I don’t have a good snowsuit, so I’ll celebrate by watching birds at the bird feeder.

I have always loved the magical feeling of snow days, especially living in Texas where they are rare!

A great day to make a snowflake and watch the snowflake. It reminds me of a SnowyDay. I sm on my IPhone but unable to add a snowflake. I did see some nice snowflakes from one of the links. I took a picture. So cute. Patterns of white, footprints left behind, vanilla crème wonderland, hot chocolate in hand making snow angels and snowmen , this is fun on a snowy day. This is my little free verse poem.

As a former teacher, this snow day brings back memories. Maybe I’ll come up with a snow day story.

Hi Marsha! Good to see you here and I hope you survived the storm well. Yes, I have been adding little flakes of fancy to the story I’m working on. Will have to hit the “office” on my laptop soon, though. Wishing you a fun day of inspiration and writing.

I remember as a kid having to get up early and watch the tv for the list of towns closed. My town started with the letter A so if you missed it, you had to sit through the whole list. 🙂 I am a retired teacher now but still love a good snow day!

Wow! ❄️ Toronto has had two snow days in January! I retired from the school board in 2017 after 29 years and don’t remember ever having two snow days in the same month. Lots of fun for kids and those young at heart.

Tara, Our schools are closed due to a “FREEZE DAY.” Our old school buses’ brakes will freeze up in sub-temps, not to say our students might transform into popsicles. I do remember burying back under my blanket. Thanks for reminding me to anticipate the joy of an ordinary day.

Snow is missing from our yard this year. We have not had a proper winter here this year but the ski resorts up our canyons are running with manmade snow. The neighborhood kids went to school as usual and are wishing for snow this winter not just cold temperatures and ice rinks to skate on, but a proper school closure day.

As a mom, glad my kids didn’t have a snow day today–they were off Friday and I got nothing done. But glad I get a snow day!

Growing up we never had real “snow days.” Our snow days came when the wind blew too hard the snow drifted and closed the interstate and highways or when the temperature dropped low enough the busses wouldn’t start. Still very fun to not have school those days, but less fun conditions to play outside in.
