What I love most about participating in PiBoWiMo is I seem to walk around like my eyes are more wide open to the weird, wacky, and wonderful world in which we live. So much possibility for story here and it just takes paying attention to see it.

Confident that I’ll end this month with 30 story ideas–I have 15 so far–some that I’ll revise during Meg Miller’s ReViMo in January. Love the guest bloggers and all the member support! You’ve done a good, good thing, Tara Lazar!

I’m keeping up–at least one idea per day. Some ideas are more fleshed out than others, but no single beginning to end story has arrived yet. I will be ready for it when it comes, however. 🙂

Good so far at 22! I’m finding that participating in PiBo and NaNo has also helped me generate several ideas in adult fiction and non-fiction as well. The dam has broken and I have ideas all over the place! So exciting!

I start each day this way. It’s rich. Also helps me be more aware as I go through my day: what do I see and hear that can lead me to a character?
Wahoo!

Yep, like Courtenay, so far, so good. The ideas keep rolling in. In addition to developing the more fully formed ideas, I’m looking forward to processing & synthesizing the bits & pieces of story to see what might go together.

As a first timer this has been truly inspirational! I have dreamed of the day of doing this, and know that I will succeed. Maybe not to the degree that others have reached, but for sure to the point of my own personal satisfaction and success! And I’m good with that!! Oh, and I’ve got 28 ideas all ready, either Titles, story concepts, doodles, or character designs. This feels GREAT!!

Three things I wouldn’t have done this month if not for PiBoIdMo:
1. I made friends with the children’s librarians. They are talking up my art/writing and giving me great books to read!
2. I am reading several great books recommended by fellow PiBoIdMoers.
3. I am making the time for drawing and writing. Every day.
Thank you so much for the encouragement, information, and community!

As a first timer taking this class, I have found it very helpful and inspiring. I have almost hit my 30 ideas for new ideas already with half the month to go. I have managed to rework some projects I had been working on as well. Thank you the inspiration and encouragement!

Today’s quote from Roald Dahl– ain’t that the truth! So far I’ve been feeling really good about my progress– definitely better off than I was last year at this time! Twenty-one ideas and one first draft. I wish every month could be PiBoIdMo. 🙂

I’m doing great! Getting down my idea per day–some such and some actually make me excited. I do notice I’m coming up with lots of premises, and it’s a struggle to try to extend the thinking a bit more to ask, “But what would be the central problem?” But…I’m getting there. Thank you for all the ideas and inspiration!

This is my first time participating and I was worried that I would never be able to come up with this many new ideas on demand. But then I found out it’s just like drawing: showing up at my desk and doodling out ideas even if they’re not fully formed means I’m moving forward. Thanks for rounding up so many great people to write the inspiring daily posts!

I thought I was behind (only wrote on 8 days) but I went back and counted 15 ideas! Mostly titles or brief character possibilities without storylines, plus one new draft that I already brought to my critique group.

It is so liberating to write down ideas before evaluating their potential. I scribble down anything that pops into my mind. So far, I have one rough draft, and 29 other ideas. I know some are really crappy, but there are a few I’m excited to dig into!

Fear can freeze you up, but it’s hard not to feel it when you think you might not have any more ideas! The key for me is to stay relaxed and know that there are more ideas than grains of sand.

PiBoIdMo has forced me to become more intentional and methodical about writing daily and that’s a great thing for a procrastinator like me! I need the discipline & so far I am 100% – an idea a day! But , the old Catholic in me must confess…some days I was dry and some days the ideas flowed – so it all adds up to 1 a day! Thanks,Tara, for creating this wonderful uber idea of PiBoId Mo!

I’m keeping up with 15 ideas so far. Started out like I was on fire but the last couple of days I feel like the well is starting to dry up. But as with any writing, I’ll persist and am confident I’ll make it to the end with 30 ideas. They won’t all be good ones, but I’ll make it! Thanks, Tara–I know this is a lot of work for you to put together but it’s a fabulous experience!

I’m right on par. These posts, along with the faithful PiBoIdMo community and a fruitful day at a regional SCBWI conference have provided much inspiration. We can do it, PiBoIdMo-ers: to infinity…er…30 ideas and beyond!

Tara, really enjoying PiBoIdMo with the daily posts, ideas and encouragement. I have 25 fiction and 15 non-fiction ideas jotted down and have turned two of the fiction ideas into manuscripts. One I am really happy with it after multiple revisions with my wonderful critique group. I’m looking forward to polishing the second and moving on to explore others on my list. I plan to keep adding to my list of ideas as the month goes on, too. Thank you again for all your hard work putting this program together!

Didn’t think it would be as “hard” as it is to make time daily and focus solely on writing. I mean… a 5, 3, and 8 month old… they understand right?! Ha!

This challenge has been a real encouragement for me at my particular stage of the writing journey. Squeezed in-between family craziness, deadlines and long patient manuscripts awaiting their turn for a re-write, PiBoIdMo has not just blown a puff of creativity into my life, but reminded me of the joy this writing thing first called me to.
Idea wise – I’m just plodding along comfortably. At 15 ideas – one behind, but I’ll pick that up over the next day or two.

Some days I struggle to get one and say to myself, quick, think of something before the day is over, and I do. Other days I will get three or four ideas that pop into my head because of something interesting I’ve seen or heard. I think I’m up to Idea # 36.

I am amazed and in awe of writers who can get several ideas in a day. (Really do they even need PiBoIdMo?) It’s all I can do to get one a day. And if I get more than one, I count it for the next day! 🙂

It has been a big challenge to even have the time for ideas this year! However, I still have 16 ideas on the 16th day! On the busiest of days, I relied on my PiBoIdMo Jar- full of words on strips of paper. I pulled 2 or 3 words from my jar and then let my thoughts go from there. This saved my butt on 4 super tired days. I can’t say that any one of my 16 ideas feels like a winner at this time, but I haven’t tried to merge them into a manuscript yet. Who knows where the story will go?

How is it that the brilliant idea I come up with as I drift off to sleep at night evaporates in the waking hours? Enjoying the challenge immensely. The daily posts are very inspirational – I’m stockpiling them for future reference. I may not get an idea every day, but I am averaging an idea a day – I hope that’s allowed!

Doing pretty well in terms of quantity with the majority of my ideas coming on 9 of the 16 days. A little disappointed that I am not carving out time each and every day to imagine, doodle, reflect and write – even if it doesn’t yield a specific idea to add to the count. Enjoying the process, blog posts, community and experience!

Been kinda down on myself for not being as organized as I had planned to be, but I do have an idea for each day. And on Friday on the way to my kids’ school fair, I had an idea for a first line and stopped en route to scribble it down. Moments like those give me faith!

Have a few good ideas–or as my mom would say, a rose or two among the thorns. 🙂

So far, I have managed a picture book idea for every day this month – so that’s 18 picture book ideas so far! However, only two of them are ideas I think are worth working on. The rest are – well – not very good. 🙂

This is the first time I’ve taken part in PiBoIdMo and I am loving it! At least one new idea a day. What an excellent way to kick creativity into high gear.

Fear kept me from diving in at the beginning of the month. I thought, Thirty ideas? How is that possible? But when I sit down, index cards in front, laptop and phones off, the ideas flow. Knowing that the ms can come later allows for more inventive play. And, I’m discovering, a few gold nuggets to return to later and flesh out.

You ask how I am doing? My problem is when I get a great, fantastic idea, I want to spend the next days writing it!!!! It is hard to stop with just a few notes, afraid it will disappear. Leave it! You need another idea for tomorrow. Come back later!! I get ideas, some worthless, but developing them is the challenge. But for just this month I will try to go by the rules.

This has been a very busy November but I make sure I check on Writing for kids and jot down another idea

Right now I’m just writing down titles and notes for some of the story ideas – I’m up to about 8 but I have a feeling this week I’ll catch up fast. Thanks for all the inspiring posts!

Discouraged. I thought I had a really good idea and research told me “IT’S BEEN DONE ALREADY!!!” My ideas(post-it type notes on my computer screen) are falling way behind schedule. But I’m determined to find a new idea that HAS NOT BEEN DONE ALREADY and catch my ideas up before the end of this week.

This happens to me ALL the time. I still write my idea down…it may never amount to anything, but maybe I will find a way to tweak it or put a new spin on the idea.

Want to throw my thank you in the ring, Tara! Once again my mind is crackling and snapping with ideas. Some good, some meh, but ideas! Managing to keep up and even fleshed a couple out a bit! You rock, Tara!

It is going fabulous! It is amazing how taking off the pressure of creating the perfect idea and just going for creating ideas is liberating. Now I’ll have lots of new material to jump off of for next year’s 12×12! I also love the inspirational posts. I’ve been learning lots of new strategies. So thanks, thanks, thanks!

I’m doing GREAT and this has been great for my critique group members as well. Thanks for the inspirational posts and for all the reminders that are keeping me on track. I’m going to carry on through December, happy in knowing that I will have a box chock-full of ideas to start the new year!!

Obviously I’m a little behind reading posts, but around 70 ideas. And while I know a lot of them will never come to anything, just getting into the habit of thinking of ideas is a great thing for me.

I started strong, but ideas are coming in more fits than bursts this past week. Also a bit behind on reading the posts, which maybe is why the ideas slowed down. But, I do have 38 written down.

I have managed (only just) to come up with one idea a day so far and have a warm feeling of 4 of my 20 ideas!

I’ve got more than 20 ideas but some are pretty weak. In fact one page just says “butter,” so I’m really not sure where I’m heading with that, but I felt compelled to write it down 🙂

Like Meredith Pinkstone above, I have had a few dusty days, and some floods. Great to know I’m not the only one. Not knowing, however, is what keeps us at the edge and ready to grab those ideas when they come. Great quote.

How did I miss this? I love the Roald Dahl quotes! I reached 30 rough drafts on Day 12 and have averaged 2 a day since then – current count is 53.

For me the idea that we, as a group, are all working towards the same goal is comforting, even on the days when I’m pretty sure everyone else is pounding out great ideas!

This is so true and so inspirational. Those blocked days are some of the hardest around, but I move through them knowing that there are new ideas just around the bend. And, PiBoIdMo definitely helps!

Encouraging to hear how even the amazing Roald Dahl struggled with the fear of not coming up with new ideas!

Oh, yeah. I get this. Every single client project I do, I think this is the one I won’t be able to write. And I’ve been doing it for 17 years.
