I drew this illustration to accompany an old story I wrote about my pencils and pens–who felt used and abused by my ceaseless creating, so they up and staged a revolt and escape! I never told my agent I could draw. I don’t think it’s good enough to be in books, but I thought I’d share it here. Maybe a coloring contest is in order?

You can draw like this, and you never told your agent. Well, she knows now! SO jealous. See that one semi-straight line on the very bottom of the right-hand chair leg? I could MAYBE do that. 🙂

That is super cute! And well done, too!
What makes an artist’s work “good enough” to be in books? Some of the best children’s book illustrations are sketchy, unrealistic, possibly even sloppy–all in a good way. It’s not about drawing well, it’s more about translating text into pictures so that a story comes alive. Some artists are natural at it, others aren’t, but it’s not necessarily because they aren’t “good enough.”
So you never know!

You’re very talented!! I spent my whole childhood drawing. Art and writing are intertwined.
I think you have something there.
